If children get used to high intakes from being exposed to a lot of processed foods, inappropriate portions and salt used in home cooking early on, the habit can stay with them. High intakes over time can put everything from bone health to blood pressure at risk. Encouraging food manufacturers to keep lowering salt in products where they can and bring really vigilant over children’s intakes is crucial. Being salt aware is not just a message for grown ups!" |
